Korppi Coffee and Bakeshop — Sartell, MN

Laura Wolfram and Kayla Adams have been operating a successful, home-based bakeshop for the past year and a half, baking cupcakes and specialty treats for the community under a Cottage Food Industry License. The natural next step was to open their own store. The goal of Korppi Coffee & Bakeshop is to use local sustainably-sourced ingredients to create tasty offerings that are free of preservatives, artificial flavorings and excessive sugar. Cultivating a healthy community begins with nourishing both the body and soul, and nothing is more nourishing than the sense of kinship that comes with genuine human connection. Laura stated, “We feel so fortunate to have been able to work with the SBDC to help us get our business up and running.”

From friendship bracelets to order fulfillment and beyond: One entrepreneur’s journey

Some people are born entrepreneurs. Beth Snyder is among them. Snyder is the owner of Court Street Custom Fulfillment (CSCF) in Fulton, MO, among other companies. CSCF is just the latest of her businesses. She started her first one in fourth grade and she made jewelry and decorative bottles that she sold in shops and craft stores while in high school. “By the time I went to college, I had saved $40,000,” Snyder said. About 15 years after college, her entrepreneurial drive reasserted itself, and she has since started several small businesses. The Missouri SBDC has been a part of this journey along the way. In 2021, the SBDC was able to help Snyder work on CSCF and the process of selling another one of her businesses.

The Small Business Development Center gave my husband and I the necessary tools to get past the fear, dive into the numbers, and they surrounded us with an amazing group of talented people to support our dream of owning our own restaurant.
