Coalition of Business Services Organizations Come Together to Work with Underserved Business Owners

The RI Small Business Development Center (RISBDC) and the Center for Women and Enterprise (CWE) are among a group of Rhode Island business services organizations that will soon be offering small business assistance at 222 Manton Ave., Providence. This new center will serve as a focal point of entrepreneurship for underserved small business owners in the area.  Office hours are expected to begin in early 2022.

Michaela Antunes will be capitalizing on the growing pet industry, which experienced record sales of $103 billion in 2020, with the upcoming launch of an innovative app that connects dog owners. Dubbed "Dogfrens - the happy hub for social dogs," the app will act as a social forum for all things dog-related. RISBDC business counselors Susan Davis and Yashwant Meghare are assisting Michaela with the launch, which is expected in early 2022.

SaladWorks — Providence owners Aileen & John Pisaturo were joined by Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee and members of the RI business community to celebrate the restaurant’s 1st Year VIP anniversary event on June 17 2021 with fanfare and festivity. The restaurant opened in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic amid lots of uncertainty, but the Pisaturos persevered with a creative business model and various relief programs from the SBA and the state. Central Rhode Island Regional Director Amit Basnet & his RISBDC team is already assisting John with his 2nd restaurant expansion in Warwick, RI, for Spring 2022 ... proof that hard work and resiliency can defeat even the most daunting challenges
